Above the Curve Nail Polish-Nails for a Cause!

As alot of you know my husband and I have been making nail polish but none of you know why.
Well I am proud to announce our polish line!!

Above the Curve Nail Polish-Nails for a cause!

$1 of each polish sold will be donated to
Shriner's Hospitals for Children.

What is Shriner's Hospital for Children?
Shriner's Hospitals for Children is a health care system providing high quality pediatric specialty care to thousands of kids each year. All care is provided without financial obligation to the patient or their family, and their mission is made possible solely through the generosity of donors.

Not only do they support the child but they also provide support for the families who may not have the funds to travel to and from the hospital for appointments and places to stay the night.
You can visit thier website here .

Why Shriner's Hospital for Children?
When I was 12 years old I was diagnosed with Scoliosis.I had a 78 degree curve and had to have surgery to correct it.At 12 years old I didn't really know how to feel about it but when the kids at school found out I was quickly the target of all the bullies.I felt so alone .Then it was time for my first visit to Shriner's Hospital in Portland OR.The first thing I saw when I got there was the sign on the wall.In big letter's it read "Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children" and I remember freaking out and saying I don't belong here I'm not crippled.I was scared to death and I wanted to run far far away from there. But that quickly went away when I met the doctor's and nurses there. They were all so nice and made me feel welcome and comfortable.
After my surgery I was in ICU for 3 days hooked up to all kinds of machines then I was moved to the main recovery ward right next to the nurses station.I stayed there for 2 weeks. It was extremely hard for me being away from  my mom and sister for so long but the nurses made it a lot easier.I had met a very nice girl there too.I felt so bad for her because she didnt have any legs and only one arm with no finger's.She was so sweet and happy.I wish I could remember her name. She had been going to that hospital since she was 2 years old and at the time we met she was 16.
I am greatful for them.Without Shriner's Hospital for Children I wouldnt be alive today and if I was I certainly wouldnt have my beautiful children and wonderful husband!

I have always wanted to do something to repay them for everything they have done for me and everything they continue to do for other's and I think this is it.
We will have our Etsy shop open soon so stay tuned for that.

Thank you for reading this and I hope you help me help them!

Another handmade polish!

My husband and I have made another polish!! It's so pretty.I thought I would share with you all.

After we made it I decided I would wear it and put it to the test.Today I did laundry, cleaned with Lysol and Bleach, and washed my hands about a bagillion times and I think it held up pretty darn good.
I love this one.The blue reminds me of tropical paradise!
What do you all think?

A quick mani :)

Here is a super quick gradiant mani I did today.Seriously it only took 30 min.

I used a white as a base color and did a sponge gradiant with a pastel pink and blue. All color's were Color club.
Here is my inspiration.
It's a wedding dress I found on pinterest.I knew I had to do a mani based on this and I'm so glad I did!I love it.
If you have any mani pic's I would love to see them. You can like my page on facebook Here!

As always please excuse the mess, bleach does not play well with cuticles!
Thanks for reading :)

"THE THEME:
My favorite things! I want you to create a manicure that you think I'd love, using my favorite nail art techniques or themes, which are: gradients, animal print, bows, dots, and Hello Kitty.
Create your manicure using one (or more!) of those 5 ideas, and submit it.
Your design doesn't have to be limited to these ideas but just make sure at least one is included somewhere.
Feel free to go back through my posts and take inspiration from them!"
I also really like gradients because they are quick and easy!I chose all 5 of them.
I'm not to fond of my "glowing" dots on my index finger but the rest I love!

NailiteInc Error!!

Recently I went to Nailiteinc.com to purchase some clear and bottle's for my polishes and when I went to complete my order my husband noticed an error. They were saying that a 32oz top coat was 9lbs and were charging the shipping as such.My husband noticed this error and immediatly e-mailed them.Well we finally got an e-mail back and this is what it said:

The Top Coat was wrong.  It was at 9 pounds and should have been at  1.2 pounds.  The rest of the items are correct.  Stick It was not wrong and the bottles are 15 pounds.  Thank you for letting us know.

Best Regards,
   Lisa Rillo

lisa@nailiteinc.com

I'm not sure how many (if any) of you have ordered from them but if you have I'm pretty sure they over charged you.I hope they fixed it because we all could stand to save a little money here and there.
So the lesson here is always look before you hit accept and don't be affraid to e-mail or call the comany if you think there is something wrong with your order!

Woo Hoo My OWN nail polish!

I am so excited, my husband and I have made our own nail polish and I love it!!Now I have in the past made franken's using other nail polishes but this time we did it all from scratch.I just had to show it off!
                                           With top coat
                                           With Matte top coat.
Both are 2 very light coats.I could probably use it over a base color like black or white.
Either way I love it.
And as usual please excuse the crappy clean up and the ugly cuticle's.

Please excuse my horrible cuticle's and clean up job,I was still a little sad my nail broke and I had to file them all down to match :(

My entry to Chalkboard Nails nail art contest!

When I heard about Chalkboard Nails nail art contest I knew I wanted to enter. The rules are simple you can only use a dotting tool no nail art brushes,Nail polish only no acrylic paint and be creative and have fun!Simple right??WRONG!Lol It has been a very long time since I used a dotting tool and polish only! And I swear as soon as I would put a drop of polish on my paper it would start to dry and get all goopy :( so I had to work fast!I had no idea what I was going to do but I knew I wanted it to be different. So I looked up wallpaper's on google to see if I could find something interesting.Nothing!everything I thought would be perfect would require a lot more than a dotting tool grrrr!I almost gave up,until my 4 year old daughter mentioned Dr.Seuss!Of course, The Lorax just came out in theatre's and would be perfect for this. Why didn't I think of that?!?! So here it is........
Here are the color's I used:
Orange:NYC Times Square Tangerine Creme,L.A.Colors Color Craze BCC 567
Blue:Savvy Electric Blue,Sally Hansen Frozen Solid
Green:L.A.Colors Color Craze BCC 573.Pure Ice Wild Thing
Pink:Sinful Colors Cream Pink
Yellow:Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Virtual Violet.NYC Purple Pizzazz Frost
White:Sinful Colors Snow Me White
Black:Rimmel Lasting Finish Pro Black Satin
My one and only dotting tool!
